Makeup Courses taught by Kat Flynt
About the Makeup Instructor, Kat Flynt

General Information

When you choose which makeup classes to attend it is important to make your choice based at least partially on the Instructor and the Instructor's current and ongoing experience being in the exact same style of makeup that you are interested in pursuing. Choose an Instructor that spends more time working in the industry in which you want to pursue than she does in teaching makeup classes. The world of freelance makeup is ever evolving and it is of the utmost importance to learn the current trends and techniques. Secondly, consider the market in which the Instructor works in. If you want to work in New York then take classes from Instructors in New York. If you wish to work in Atlanta then take classes from an Instructor that is currently working in the Atlanta market and can train you based on current market demands for the area. Kat Flynt specializes in Media Makeup & Wedding Makeup currently working in the Atlanta market since 1993 for Weddings and since 2003 in Media Makeup. The one-on-one private mentorship makeup artist training is held inside Kat Flynt's Makeup Studio in Gwinnett County. The Advanced Makeup courses (with 3 or more studetns) are held inside of The Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics at 2 Dunwoody Park S, Atlanta, GA unless otherwise indicated on the registrations page. Makeup Instructor, Kat Flynt is available to teach at Aesthetic or Cosmetology Schools as an Independent Contractor. Visit the "About the Instructor" page for contact information.

Makeup Class Format

Each of our makeup classes includes theory presented in a PowerPoint Presentation, makeup application demonstrations by instructor, and hands-on practice by students.  Each makeup class has a maximum number of ten students permitted.  We do this to promote an environment where each student has easy access to the instructor to ask questions or review techniques taught in class. Click on the link above titled "Advanced Makeup Courses" for a full description of each class including dates, cost, and curriculum.

Certificate of Completion

Subject to successful achievement of makeup course content, qualified students will receive a Certificate of Completion from Flynt Makeup Academy.  The Certificate represents that you have completed a course of professional makeup training.  The Certificate also acknowledges that you studied under a Makeup Instructor who is a professional makeup artist currently working in the industry.

Enrollment Deadline

Deadline for enrollment online is usually 2 weeks prior to start of class (postmark 3 weeks prior if registering via mail).  However, if a class fills up (maximum 10 students) before the enrollment deadline registration will be closed for that class regardless of the deadline.

Free Seats in Class

Previous students who have paid to take any one of our 3 or 4-Day classes can come back and sit in on that same class again free of charge if there are any empty seats remaining past the registration deadline. Classes max out at ten students so if we have six paid registrations then only four previous students will be allowed to sit in on that class. These free seats are filled in order of requests from the waiting list of previous students requesting to sit in on the class again. Previous students - click here to email request.

Need Payment Plans or Credit Options? Click Here

Yes, we can customize a payment plan just for you to fit your budget. You choose weekly or monthly payments and the amount you would like to pay each week or month and schedule to take the course of your choice upon completion of tuition payments. All courses must be paid in full a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the course start date or you will need to reschedule for a later course date.

Supplies Needed for Makeup Course

Each student makeup artist will need a basic starter makeup kit and professional makeup brushes in order to attend the class.  However, we are aware that many of our students have already begun putting together their professional makeup kit and prefer the cost of a kit not be added to their tuition price; therefore our makeup kits and our professional makeup brush sets are sold separately and are not included in the tuition price for the class. If ordering your makeup kit through us - please make your purchase a minimum of two weeks prior to the start date of the class you wish to attend in order to assure delivery in time for course. Licensing Requirements

It is our understanding that you no longer have to be licensed as a Cosmetologist or Esthetician to work as a Freelance Makeup Artist. In 2006, a small portion of wording was deleted and the following wording was added to the law "Such term shall not apply to a person whose activities are limited to the application of cosmetics which are marketed to individuals and are readily commercially available to consumers." Click here to read complete law. However, we are aware that there are many production companies and television stations, and of course all salons and spas, etc.. that have the requirement of being licensed (as a Cosmetologist or as an Esthetician) as part of their policies for those working as their makeup artist(s); therefore we do recommend (but do not require) that the artists obtain the license in addition to our makeup classes. For more information about the Esthetician Program - visit:
